Toyah at Femmes Fatales Logo Design

Written by York Print Company on 17/07/2018

Branding and logo design

We recently received a brief asking us to take all of Shhhh Hair & Beauty’s literature and re-brand it to Toyah at Femmes Fatales, due to shop closure.

When collecting information to use in the research/concept stage of the branding and the logo design, we focused on Toyah. Her personality, favourite colours, styles etc. making use of her favourite flower, the peony rose to give a soft, feminine edge to the harsh straight lines of black and white.

Femmes Fatales Hairdressing & Beauty already exists and therefore we had to keep their name in the font/style they already use.

The finished design is bold, bright and simplistic whilst still being feminine.

Logo Design

Written by York Print Company on 09/05/2018

Logo design is everywhere.

I look around me now, and I can easily count up at least 10 different logos without much effort… they are scattered around us everywhere we go, are embedded in our culture and way of life. They influence our decisions, communicate and represent a company’s values, and are often full of meaning…

Logo design is the first priority when starting a new business – Logos are symbols made up of text and images that help us identify brands.  A good logo is the cornerstone of your brand. It helps customers understand what you do and who you are. The primary role of a logo is to identify… Remember this, as it trumps all other advice you’ll ever hear. Identification is what really matters. That’s a lot of responsibility for a tiny image!

Logos also leave a visual impact this reminds your customers that, well… that you exist! In other words, an effective logo can create strong visual associations with your business. This association helps customers keep your brand in mind.

Think about brands like Nike or McDonalds, whose logos are so ubiquitous that they can be recognized instantly with or without the name present. It’s no surprise that logos are such a central part of brand identity.

Pop-Up/Roller Banners

Great for Exhibitions, In-House Signage and Advertising.

Pop-up/roller banners are the perfect portable solution for a business that needs to showcase their brand on the move. They are also perfect to be a permanent display in a public space. They are one of our favourite display solutions because you can assemble them easily and transport them in the lightweight case that it comes in.

Pop-up/roller banners are a great tool for anyone looking to boost their promotional efforts. They make a great addition to any exhibition or trade show booth space.

You can either supply your own artwork or you can work with our graphic design team to ensure the graphics for your retractable banner are designed with high impact and to the correct size for print.

Graphic Design for Large Format Digital Advertising Screens

Written by York Print Company on 09/03/2017

“I was in gridlock traffic stuck in Newcastle in the pouring rain when I looked up at this massive advertisement screen 4 lanes wide. I saw the name FORREST MEDIA on the side & rang them up. Unbelievably, they put me through to the MD, I emailed him a pdf of my book & hit it off with him straight away.  “Let’s do this. It’s a great idea!” Marc said.

The campaign links in ideas from the book DEAR DEMENTIA: the laughter & the tears & the work in Wellburn Care Homes.

The soundbites on the screens give a different view of those living with dementia.”

Ian Donaghy – author of Dear Dementia

After getting the go-ahead to use the screens for his campaign, we were approached by Ian Donaghy. He was in need of Graphic Design for Large Format Digital Roadside Advertising Screens. They had to be simple, clean and bold so that the key messages came across instantly.

As you can see, they were a great success!

webceteraLogo Design for Webcetera.

We were recently briefed to design a logo for Webcetera. They had already chosen colours that they preferred and we were asked to keep that in mind.  They also wanted a logo that had an icon within it, that could be used as a stand alone.

Webcetera – is a website development & website management company. Helping other companies with their website, making it work better for them, be it a brand new website, a migration of an existing website onto a new CMS/platform, managing an existing website ‘as is’, SEO and so on.
A key element is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) which they’re experienced in. Keyword research and strategy, content development, analysing results, reporting… The aim here is to help customer websites be ‘found’ organically via web searches and offer advice on how to improve this.

We initially did 5 concepts. Working up the chosen route into full colour. Once the client was happy with the logo they were then given the logo in various format files, so that they can use their logo for all purposes, from printing to web uploads. It is now up and running on their new website and it’s looking great!!
